Key Definitions:
- Accident: A sudden, unforeseen, and unexpected event.
- Card Member: A holder of an American Express card who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
- Common Carrier: A mode of transportation that requires a ticket purchase, such as buses, trains, or airlines.
- Covered Trip: A fully paid trip using the eligible Amex card, lasting up to 365 days from departure.
Covered Losses:
- Accidental injury, sickness, or death of the traveler, family member, or companion.
- Severe weather conditions making travel impossible.
- Changes in military orders.
- Terrorist actions or hijacking.
- Jury duty or court subpoena that cannot be postponed.
- Traveler’s residence becoming uninhabitable.
- Quarantine imposed by a physician for health reasons.
Coverage Details:
1. Trip Cancellation:
- Reimburses non-refundable airfare, hotel, or cruise expenses.
- If a physician advises against travel, the traveler must notify the travel provider immediately.
2. Trip Interruption:
- Covers non-refundable flight and accommodation costs.
- Provides additional transportation expenses (up to economy-class airfare).
- If departure is delayed, covers the cost difference for a rescheduled ticket.
Coverage Limits:
- Trip Cancellation: Up to $10,000 per trip and $20,000 annually.
- Trip Interruption: Up to $10,000 per trip and $20,000 annually.
- Coverage is secondary, meaning other applicable travel insurance benefits are used first.
Exclusions:
- Pre-existing conditions.
- Suicide or self-inflicted injury.
- War or mental health disorders (except hospitalization).
- Professional sports injuries.
- Accidents due to intoxication.
- Criminal activities or illegal acts.
- Skydiving, motor racing, and other high-risk activities.
- One-way trips without a return ticket.
- Financial insolvency of travel agencies.
How to File a Claim:
- Notify the insurance administrator within 60 days of the incident.
- Notify the travel provider and follow their cancellation process.
- Required documents include flight tickets, travel receipts, card statements, and medical reports.

When you pay the entire fare for a trip using your eligible American Express card, you're automatically covered for lost, damaged, or stolen baggage.

- While aboard a common carrier (plane, train, ship, bus)
